Do you think its weird/wrong that we get the Monday after off as a public holiday?
I'm sure when I was a Kid we only got the day it fell on, and if it was a weekend is was too bad how sad, and last year was a Friday, so we got a long weekend anyway..but this year its Saturday..and all our calendars at work don't have the Monday as a PH but we're getting one?
I'm not going to knock the day off work, but I don't think we should be getting one if its not on a weekday... what do you think?

Well, personally I'm fine with it (simply becuase then I don't have to go to uni >_> gives me the time I need to work on big assignments and to catch up with lectures.)
Though it is a strange arrangement and a good cause of confusion for some people. I guess they might be making an exception for people who are travelling out to other places to celebrate(?) the day. *shrug* But then that still wouldn't make sense for when people would go out when the day was in the middle of the week.

i'm personally fine with it as i get another day off from work but either way i'm stuffed as i worked hlaf day sat just gone and i'll be working the half day sat of that weekend but the rule is if the day falls on the weekend you are entitled to get the monday off because if ithad fallen during the week you would have got it off anyway

But isn't it that ppl in WA get a different day for the Queen's birthday compared to those in the Easter states? (not that it matters much for me since uni doesn't recognise it as a proper public holiday.) I find it a little odd how we recognise different holidays to those in the East. Hnn, I think I get the Saturday off work too though on that week end. Shops closed! *happy since it's mor time to sleep and study*

We didn't get a Public Holiday here for it, but apparently next year is different as Easter falls on the same day as ANZAC so stupid Easter is going to extend to the Tuesday :faint:
I say "stupid" because it's a really long time to go without banking facilities and every year I get stuck waiting for a cheque to cash or Paypal to process. This year took 9 days for a cheque to clear because of Easter!
/rant LOL

I think the only day you should have as a holiday is the actual day. I think it's terrible the shops and cinemas etc open after 12. Is it so much to ask for an entire day to remember our war heroes?
